About the AWFRCA
The Australian Wing Foil Racing Class Association is the national class association for wing foil racing in Australia. We are afflilliated with Australian Sailing. We exist to grow the sport at every level — from young athletes learning to foil in their first race to those competing on the international circuit.
The Association sanctions and runs the Australian Wing Foil Racing Nationals, maintains class rules and racing formats aligned with the International Wingfoil Sailing Association ( IWSA), supports regional and club-level racing around the country, and sets the safety and risk management standards our events run to. We support IWSA, X15 One design and Wingfoil NZ events as well as those run with Australian Sailing. Many of our athletes have represented Australia internationally.
2026/7 AWFRCA Nationals Event
Our next national championship is the 2027 (held in 2026/7 Summer) Australian Wing Foil Racing Nationals, hosted at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Brisbane from 10–13 December 2026.
Pathway
Wing foiling is among the fastest-growing disciplines in sailing worldwide and is currently under consideration for the Olympic programme, with a decision expected at the World Sailing General Assembly in November 2026. The Association is actively engaged in that process on behalf of Australian foiler, and in building the junior and women’s participation base that any pathway depends on.
